How many times can a cartridge be refilled?

The answer varies depending on the manufacturer and the model. All inkjet cartridges have a limited life span, and typically a cartridge will last between 3 - 10 refills due to the electronics that control printer jets. Small resistors on the cartridge overheat when the ink runs out, therefore limiting the life of the cartridge. You can extend the life of your cartridge by not letting the ink run out completely before refilling.

Is the refill process messy?

Not usually! The Fillserv Inkjet Refill System uses a blunt needle injector which allows you to precisely control the filling process. Other refills kits use a squeeze bottle and needle which does not allow for precise control. In the event of an accident, please refill over a protected surface such as a kitchen sink or work bench. The first time you refill it will probably take you up to 20 minutes. On subsequent refills it should take you less than 10 minutes and before you know it, you'll be able to refill your cartridges as fast as you can unwrap a new one! Our refill system provides you with exactly what you need to quickly and easily refill your cartridges. Remember, ink is designed to be permanent on paper. If any ink gets on skin it will wash out after several washes. Ink on fabrics other porous surfaces may not come out at all.

Will this cause damage to my printer/cartridge?

NO! Keep in mind that the ink does not touch any part of the printer or internal parts other than the cartridge and print head. The cartridge is a self contained unit and ink is applied to the paper as the paper is fed through the printer.

Does Fillserv have inks for the new 6 color systems?

Yes. Fillserv makes Light Cyan (Photo Cyan) and Light Magenta (Photo Magenta) inks which are used by Canon, Epson, HP, and Lexmark to produce better skin tones in photo reproductions.

What can I do if the cartridge print nozzles are clogged?

Uneven printing, skipping, or no print may suggest clogged print nozzles. If a cartridge has been left, unused or stored for a long period of time, its print nozzles may become blocked with old dried ink. One method is to allow the print heads to soak in our Cartridge & Print Head Cleaner for an hour, this should help unclog the print nozzles and restore print quality.

What is the shelf life of Fillserv ink?

The shelf life of an unopened bottle is approximately 3 years. Once a bottle has been opened, the shelf life is only about 1 year. In order to achieve this optimal shelf life, the ink should be stored in an airtight container and not exposed to direct sunlight or any type of UV light. Do not touch the ink with anything other than a clean syringe. Anything else may contaminate the ink.

Why doesn't the hole plug in my toner refill kit fit my cartridge?

The hole plugs that are in the toner refill kits are only for the holes made by the hole making tool. If your cartridge already has a hole and a plug, more than likely the plug will not fit your cartridge. Use duct tape or electrical tape to seal the hole as the plug was probably damaged when it was removed. We put the hole plugs into all the kits instead of trying to decide which of the hundreds of refill kits we offer need them.
